&#124;&#38;nbsp; Overview &#38;nbsp;&#124;


	
This triptych, inspired by The Garden of Earthly Delights and stained glass windows, serves as a visual archive of my dreams in their original form. While reworking certain scenes might help unravel the narratives, I chose to display the raw material, disconnected and obscure, to remain true to the dream state.


The objects and spaces within the work represent fragments of dreams, chosen for their symbolic significance. These randomly arranged elements are assigned different opacities based on their importance and frequency. The black text recedes into the translucent dark cobalt vellum, becoming visible only when examined under light.

To reinforce the concept of fragmentation and unintelligibility throughout the project, the title, Nocturnal Medley, is deconstructed into three parts engraved across the glass panels. The typeface, Thaumaturgy, exudes an aura of mystery in its eerie shape, further obfuscating the message.

&#124; &#38;nbsp;Story &#38;nbsp;&#124;


	I moved to the US for school in 2016. In my very first class, the teacher asked us to make a 5x5 square using a US Letter sheet with no other tools. I had no previous knowledge of inch and the US Letter size. I did not even know what US Letter meant. However, because of my math background, I turned out to be the only one who made a perfect square, which impressed a girl named Sara so much that she ended up being my first American friend. During the presentation, one of my classmates explained his thought process. From his experience, the length of the thumb tip is about one inch long.

Looking back on this memory, I reflected on my obsession over precision and perfection, and the unintended exclusion and frustration I experienced in that class. I simply did not know an inch could be measured that way. Over time, I grew familiar with the things that natives take for granted. My stomach can take up to 16 oz coffee at a time. My nose becomes oily when it is over 75°F. Learning with the body helps me not forget, and also find ease and belonging in this new environment. This project is thus conceived with appreciation for simple yet practical life experience.

&#124; &#38;nbsp;Overview &#38;nbsp;&#124;


	Imperial Anatomy as a conceptual brand offers various measuring instruments in the shape of body parts. Rule of Thumb, the principal product, is a one-inch ruler appearing as a thumb tip without marks. Specimen jars are used for the packaging.
The brand identity stems from the 5x5 square achieved through folding. FRAC, a grid-based typeface, perfectly represents the background story; whereas Injurial, with Roman square capitals’ proportions, exalts the product and the principle it stands for.
This project witnesses my personal philosophical transition from rationalism to empiricism, and commemorates my identity evolution in the US from 2016 to 2020.

	In early 2021, I experienced a panic attack. My body and mind being weak, I felt strong palpitations and overwhelming emotions, especially anxiety. This moment of fragility coincided with an emerging sense of power in the background. This experience challenged the relationship between weakness and strength. That is why the project Potimpotentia aims to evoke emotions in the viewer that transcend them, with the purpose of awakening a sense of their own power, particularly in those who are perceived as weak and who perceive themselves as such. It is an invisible, unsuspected power, yet so precious.
To construct a narrative from A to Z based on this personal experience, emphasizing emotions and affect, I propose a multisensory artistic direction and a transmedia communication approach within the fashion industry. The interconnection of all elements is a key concept; everything is interconnected, and everything transforms into each other, just like the interplay of weakness and strength in this experience.

	When I heard the song for the first time, I was in Berlin. Now, every time I listen to it, I think of the city and my life there. The day when I added this song to my playlist, was Feb. 27, 2018.

	


	Jan. 22I flew to Berlin. It was a gloomy day. I was very nervous speaking German with the taxi driver. I also had some difficulty opening the door of my apartment. But yeah, I started my life there.
Mar. 01That was the last day of my German course. I wrote an essay about home. I wanted to write about Berlin, but didn’t eventually. I wrote everything in German on my notebook, but as I had an African classmate, all I practiced in that class was French.
Apr. 16I hung out with my first friend from school. She has a French first name and a German last name. I was late for almost 30 minutes. I got lost for some reason. The very last time I saw her, I wore a pair of white socks.
June 12I wore a bandana grocery shopping. A woman came up to me asking what type of tofu was best for soup. I assumed that she took me for a Japanese chef.
July 15I was at Klunkerkranich drinking Grolsch with my friends. I got a message from Sara. She found us an apartment in Brooklyn. I realized I needed to leave soon.
Aug. 17My last day in Berlin. I took another look at my apartment before I locked the door. I didn’t see the hot air balloon on my way out. And I had to leave.

&#124;&#38;nbsp; Overview &#38;nbsp;&#124;


	When a journey ends, trivial moments become memories, and mundane artifacts we lived with turn to monuments. Travelers have a love-hate relationship with their keepsakes, as these objects bring out emotions but also take up space. The project Recollection proposes a possibility of elevating everyday artifacts to special souvenirs and transforming them into digital mementos for better memory preservation.
Recollection consists of a physical diary, Berlin Souvenir, and a digital product, Momento. Berlin Souvenir revisits my personal memory of eight months in Berlin. The diary is composed of selected objects and textual records, representing particular days during the stay. The vitrine-like containers display artifacts, calling attention to their role as souvenirs. Momento, using 3D scanning, makes it possible to discard physical objects that one may have difficulty parting with. The application allows users to create diaries with their digitalized keepsakes on display, serving as a multimedia archive for individual past life events.
Recollection seeks to explore storytelling as a format through object-centered narration, to provide a new solution for the documentation of experiences, and to encourage the audience to be attached to and detached from objects collected throughout life.

Erik Satie, a pianist and penman.
Named after Satie’s Enfantines, this typeface is my very first attempt in type design, seeking to reify the eerie elegance that I perceive in his music and his “childish” handwriting. With both sharp corners and flowy curves, Enfantin spotlights eccentricity and attitudes while holding a Degas’ ballerina posture. Enfantin is born to be an angular yet graceful solitary, an absurd gymnopedist.
Visual research also includes Art Nouveau typography and paintings.

	“The link between neonicotinoid pesticides and the worldwide decline of bee populations is a crisis that cannot be ignored.

I have arranged thousands of dead honeybees in mathematical patterns symbolically linked to monoculture crops, such as the Fibonacci spiral found in the seed head of the sunflower.

The viewer experiences the vertigo of this lifeless swarm, a dizzying optical illusion that echoes the bees’ loss of ability to navigate due to the toxins locked within the very source of their sustenance.”

	Institut Français de la Mode Knitwear proposed a workshop in collaboration with Alexander McQueen with the brief of speaking to biodiversity in McQueen’s design languages. Salomé Bodin created a suit inspired by Sarah Hatton’s bee works and Vertigo by Alfred Hitchcock who had a significant influence on McQueen.
My art direction concept stems from the same visual references, yet with some extra dizzy spells brought by springtime pollens, creating a lost moment with unanswered questions.

	“Créé par le Maitre Parfumeur Olivia Giacobetti, Passage d’Enfer rend hommage à la rue de Paris où L’Artisan Parfumeur avait son siège pendant les années 70.
Ce parfum est un accord subtil sur le thème de l’essence d’encens, sublime matière première boisée et aromatique, aérienne et enveloppante. Un lys translucide et du musc blanc adoucissent la fumée balsamique de l’encens, qui dévoile tout en transparence son sillage charnel.
Son nom est peut-être sombre et troublant, mais le parfum lui-même est apaisant et méditatif, évoquant l’idée des murs glacés des cathédrales et l’écho des chants et des incantations.”

Organ and stained glass, mysterious grandeur of the cathedral.

Lily and incense, tranquil contemplation through the perfume.
The collage fuses the origin, the image, and the notes of the perfume into its visual presentation, creating an inferno with sophistication.
This design can be used for special occasions, e.g. the Chinese New Year.

	Charming and magnetic creatures inhabit the spaces of Le Bon Marché, ready to catch audiences’ curious gazes. With their harmonious and seducing singing, they lure visitors into the physical and virtual fantasy of Mugler that will captivate all senses.
	





&#124;&#38;nbsp; Overview &#38;nbsp;&#124;


	To answer Le Bon Marché’s brief of drawing in young audiences, we imagined a week-long event for the launch of a yet-to-be-created fragrance for Mugler, Siren. Scenography revolves around the metaphor of siren that we distilled into two key elements: seductive music and watery design.

We proposed Sevdaliza as the Mugler siren for her sensual voice and existing relationship with the brand. A special version of her song, Marilyn Monroe, will be the theme song for the event. For the event activation, the song will be played on the selected metro lines as the trains run under the Seine. Travelers can Shazam the song and will be redirected to the Le Bon Marché website for more information about the event. Exiting the train, they will also be invited by the wall posters to the department store.

The same music will also be played around and in the pop-up space in the store during the week. The pop-up space consists of the multisensory AR area and the quasi-aquatic perfume counter. Customers will first observe and interact with the Mugler sirens with the oculus on, and eventually be led to the perfume counter to be fully immersed in Siren.
